We’ve redefined the role of nurse practitioners and physicians' assistants, greatly increasing their impact
Healing is all about care and compassion. Heading off the problems before they happen takes care and compassion to a whole new level. When it comes to solving the challenges of health care access, cost and quality, the focus needs to be on proactive patient care management.
OptumCare® is one of the nation’s largest employers of nurse practitioners and physicians' assistants. We have a unique view on the role that advanced practice nurses and physicians' assistants can play in patient care.
When you bring your skills and talents, your passion and compassion, to our clinical team, you’ll be part of the new solutions that are changing health care forever.
Opportunities for advanced practice clinicians with OptumCare
It takes courage and compassion to innovate new solutions and at OptumCare, there’s an abundance of both. As we continue to explore new ways to serve patients and their families, our nurse practitioners and physicians' assistants are expanding their contribution through several specialized roles. These include:
- Complex care NPs: Working in long term care or transitional settings, these professionals manage patient care to help resolve issues and avoid unnecessary hospitalizations among a patient population presenting complex/multiple medical conditions. Roles may include NP, clinical advisor or clinical team lead.
- Local care NPs: These NPs care for patients in clinics, urgent care, nursing facilities, members’ homes and community centers. This involves hands-on case management, communication with clinicians and family members and appropriate charting.
- House-call NPs: In this role call on new members to perform physical assessment and establish care plans and teams. Opportunities for advancement are available. In each area, your role can expand from direct patient care to administration and to leadership.
More purpose. More autonomy. More impact.
Every day, our leadership team turns to our nurse practitioners and physicians’ assistants to help turn the tables on rising costs, restricted options and the issues that arise from miscommunication among care clinicians. We depend on, value and appreciate our nurse practitioner teams. And that's why we are convinced we can provide an opportunity to do your best work.
We believe a good work-life balance is an essential part of value-based care.
